2008 Spring Conference

The Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics and Minnesota Mathematics Association of Two-Year Colleges held their annual Minnesota Spring Mathematics Conference April 25-26, 2008, at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.

The keynote speakers were Kim Sutton with "The Six Guiding Principles to Teaching Mathematics with Motivation", and Susan Vass with "Assignment Fun - Laughing Your Way Through Life and Math". Susan's "All Hail the Teachers" can be downloaded as a pdf file here.

MCTM president Judy Stucki presented Ken Voss with an Honorary MCTM Membership as recognition for his contributions to mathematics education.

In addition to the keynote speakers, sessions for all levels were held throughout the two days, providing participants with the opportunity to network and learn new ideas and techniques. Information from the sharing session on 8th grade algebra can be found under Resources (side menu).

At the of the final luncheon, some of the lucky participants walked away with a doorprize. The prizes included $500 Savings Bonds, Tom-Tom navigators, digital picture frames, and a Duluth get-away weekend.
