Call for Nominations
2010 MCTM Board of Directors Election

The Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics Board of Directors consists of volunteers elected by the membership. The Board of Directors makes important decisions about the Councils actions, policies and programs.

The offices of Vice-President for High School, Vice-President At-Large, Directors for Districts 1 (Southeastern Minnesota), 4 (St. Paul and Northeast Metro) and District 7 (Northwestern Minnesota) are on the 2010 ballot. All offices have a three-year term.

To be eligible for nomination to any of these offices a person must have been a member of the Council for three consecutive years prior to assuming the office and must have participated in the activities of the Council. The Vice-President for High School must work at the high school level, the Vice-President At-Large is elected from the entire membership and the District Directors must work in the district they represent. The primary duty of the Vice-President for High School is to work with the Vice-President for Mathematics and the Vice-President for Mathematics Education to plan the annual Fall Conference. The primary duty of the Vice-President At-Large is to work with the Vice-President for Junior High/Middle School and the Vice-President for Elementary School to plan the annual Spring Conference.

The primary duties of the District Directors are to promote membership in the Council, to plan and help facilitate the annual Delegate Assembly, and to act in their districts as the representatives of the Council in furthering the dispatch of business of the Council.

The Committee on Nominations and Elections will consider all nominations submitted in deciding on the slate of candidates for the 2010 election. The slate of candidates will be announced in October and the election will be conducted in December. Members will receive their ballots via the US mail and will have ten days upon receipt of the ballot to submit their vote.
