Spring Conference Preview
|
I am looking forward to our spring conference in April. It’s exciting to welcome Dr. Pamela Seda to Duluth April 11th for the Symposium and on Friday April 12th as our Keynote Speaker.
The first part of the ICUCARE Framework from the book Choosing to See is Including Others as Experts. This means to “Create classroom environments that extend beyond the teacher as the sole authority to develop competence and confidence in others as experts, including the students themselves.”

Building Thinking Classrooms Together: November
|
Building Thinking Classrooms are taking Minnesota math classrooms by storm. Last spring, Peter Liljedahl shared his research in Minnesota at the MCTM Conference in Duluth. There will be a BTC article each month in MathBits. Each month Jessica responds to a question. See below for this month's question.
From Jess at Mora High School: I've been doing thin-slicing tasks a few times a week for over a year now and I love it. I'm still struggling on a regular basis with students not being good about staying with their group and/or just letting others do the problems. I try to move the marker around and talk a lot about what the work is supposed to look like, but do you have any other suggestions for keeping students engaged in the work? Read the response here.
From Jessica Strom: I am looking for more topics and questions to discuss in future articles. If you have a question about the Thinking Classroom, or if you have a story or success that you would like to share, please send me your question in this google form.
