    • Greetings to the MN Math Community!

MCTM and the MN Math Leaders have 2 FREE Math PD opportunities for you and your sites to engage in at the National Math Level.  Please share/forward this information to anyone you know who may be interested.

    1)       January 29, 7:00 p.m.
What does ‘Evidence Based’ mean in the context of mathematics?

Check out a FREE National Council of Teachers of Mathematics – NCTM - Webinar (you do NOT NEED to be a member) titled ‘Unpacking Research Claims About Teaching and Learning Mathematics’ from Rachel Lambert.

For More information and to sign-up follow this LINK

    2)       February 24-25, 2024 - FREE Virtual K-5 Math Summit with 20+ speakers.

Register to join the annual K-5 Build Math Minds Virtual Summit.  Although this summit is geared to K-5, several sessions would be great for K-12 math educators and leaders.  Many sessions are on ‘Fluency’ and best practices.  Sessions feature opportunities to learn from speakers Dawn Dibley (Minnesota), Juli Dixon, and Julio Pengagos (Mr. Pentagon) and many more (full list of speakers)

You must register to get access to the summit:  Link to Details and registration

Happy January!  We look forward to seeing you online at these virtual events.   Again, please forward and share these links with all those in your spheres of influence.

P.S.  At the Minnesota Level – there will be equally amazing mathematics learning at the April 10th Leader Symposium (Disrupting the Pattern of Failure in Math) and at the April 11-12th MCTM Conference in Duluth.  REGSISTER SOON!  This is the largest math PD opportunity of the year.

TONIGHT 7pm Moving Forward Together: A MN Conversation

Please join us for a conversation about how we, as a math community, are unified in our support of students, families and colleagues as we prepare to hold a virtual conference this week. We want to hold space to grieve the loss of Daunte Wright, the recurring pain and trauma of the Derek Chauvin trial and the on-going global pandemic. Tonight is an opportunity for ongoing self-reflection for math educators as we navigate the individual and collective journey toward equitable math classrooms.

Email: barbara.s.everhart@gmail.com for a link to join the Zoom.

  • April 13, 2021 6:00 PM | Rachel Baker (Administrator)

Thank you to those that joined us for our February and March Conversations. We will be continuing the work and the conversion on April 13th.  We are leaning on A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction to support this reflection, specifically Stride 1 for April, “How Do I Engage Students in Learning?”

The big picture for all of us is to navigate ways for students to share their voice and thinking to improve and propel that of their classmates as well.

Join the Conversation: Tuesday, April 13, 6:00-7:00pm CST
